A Healthy Dose of TuneIn Radio

Last week I was in the hospital. It was three days of pain, morphine, and my butt hanging out of a poorly tied gown. For the most part I was sleeping or moaning, but during those moments when fairly alert met almost painless I took the opportunity to check out the provided entertainment options. As you might imagine, they were somewhat lacking.

And then I got a notice from TuneIn reminding me of a basketball game featuring the University of Arizona and some school that would soon have an “L” on their schedule. I immediately knew what I was doing for the next couple of hours. I called for some blood work, a new pillow, and some uninterrupted quiet time. Then I opened the TuneIn app and listened as the Wildcats extended their winning streak with malice. I hardly moaned at all.

Of course that changed briefly when TuneIn suggested that in addition to the U of A I may enjoy following Arizona State. Luckily, I was too weak to throw my phone, so I made a mental note to mention it. And I just did.

The convenience of the TuneIn app gave me a moment of normalcy in a place that is anything but, and for that I was very grateful. I also enjoyed the morphine.

Do you like the college sports? Do you have a smartphone? Are you tired of missing games due to blackouts or distance? If you said “yes” to any of these then you are in luck. Also, you are talking to yourself and people are staring.

TuneIn features 85 colleges that will have their own, personalized 24/7 station on TuneIn, including my Arizona Wildcats, allowing fans international access to team specific live play-by-play, pre-game and post-game shows, live and archived weekly coaches shows, archived games, and in-season game replays for football and basketball (55 schools for women’s basketball).
